| After struggling for over a year, I finally caught a break. If all goes well, I'll have a new job in a few months. "Keep hoping and praying."

| Same sh*t, different day. My (current) life in a nutshell....

| So now that my term as keyholder is over, there's only one thing to do now....look for a new job. Been looking for one since summer and still no luck. Argh! Gotta keep looking.

| This key holder position I've taken has had me on my toes since day one. Last year's key holder only had to worry about voiding transactions, overseeing cash returns, and giving associates walkouts before they the store. This time I have those three responsibilities, plus a few more, and I actually have keys to the store (hence the key holder title, duh.). I'm just one level below the managers. All I have to say is thank God I'm only in this position for two months, after which I will leave the world of retail for good once I finally land my nursing job. From my 7+ years in sales, I'm somewhat overwhelmed of the respect and admiration I have earned from the managers and fellow associates. It will make my leave bittersweet, but I owe alot of my work ethic to this job. I find it hilarious how I'm getting approval from some co-workers to move onto becoming part of the management team, . On the other hand, I'm also getting the "go on to pursue your career, or else" threat from the best friend and one of the managers that I'm close to. No worries, I was not cut out to have a life long career in retail. Believe me, if I had wanted to stay in this, I would've taken on a different major in college. My only reason for even deciding to be a key holder was because I was frustrated with my search for a nursing job. Now that I have a few friends working, I have a better outlet in landing one once January arrives. Of course, I can't just rely on that. I'm praying more and more each day that an opening will present itself. I just needed a break. I was tired of hearing from different places that positions were filled/closed. Not having experience also pushed me back a bit, but I have to get it somewhere, and I will get it eventually. I just have to keep looking and praying... | | |
| Finding a job as a (not so new) grad is a biatch! I've sent out a few applications, and no word from anyone so far. I'll do some more job hunting once I get back from my trip. That, and send out for transcripts so I can start applying to RN schools. Good luck to me...
